fr_simonDear All

It was good to see so many people at church on Sunday to see Alexander, Max and Zachary baptised and welcomed into the Church. Baptism is always a sign and symbol of new life and renewed hope. I’ve been reflecting these last few week on what makes St Nicholas distinctive: certainly it’s our history and the beauty of our position, however, there is something more, perhaps less tangible but no no less important. It is our welcome, our sense of inclusion, our reaching out to newcomers.  This Sunday, like the Sunday before felt right, or at least it did to me. It felt like we were being Church, being an image and example of what a true and faithful community under God is like. Inclusion, love and worship are hallmarks of a true eschatological community. These last two Sundays felt like we really were joining our voices with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven singing.

Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
