Jonathan Stevens – Trombone

Jonathan Stevens is a trombonist currently studying for a Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music as a Musicians’ Company Artist (Lambert Scholar), supported by the Charlotte Fraser Foundation and Help Musicians. He previously graduated with First-Class Honours from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he studied as a Trinity College London and Newling Scholar and was awarded the Wind, Brass and Percussion Silver Medal.

Jonathan is establishing himself as a versatile orchestral trombonist, having performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Alongside his studies, he has participated in the BBC Symphony Orchestra Pathways Scheme. Recent engagements include performances with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and appearances with festival and academy orchestras, including the Chipping Campden Festival Academy, Eskar Festival Academy, and Amadeus Academy. He also looks forward to performing at the Buxton Music Festival Opera this year.

Alongside his orchestral work, Jonathan is an accomplished chamber and early music performer. A founding member of The Royal Sackbut Collective, he has performed as an Emerging Artist at Brighton Music Festival and recently recorded the ensemble’s debut album. He won the Trinity Laban Historically Informed Performer Competition with his sackbut quartet and was also part of the winning ensemble in the British Trombone Society Intercollegiate Trombone Choir Competition with the RCM Trombone Ensemble.

Jonathan is equally committed to music education. He previously served as Graduate Music Assistant at Wells Cathedral School and currently teaches low brass at Shrewsbury House School. He is also an active arranger and contributor to The British Trombone Society’s The Trombonist magazine.

Oliver Cuttriss – Piano

Hailing from Burgess Hill, Oli began playing the piano at the age of nine, alongside the oboe and electric guitar. A versatile musician and venerable sight-reader, he has won numerous local competitions, performed in masterclasses with Danny Driver, Lindsay Garritson and the late Peter Katin, played for an original musical at the Edinburgh Fringe and for countless other functions involving the keyboard. He graduated from Royal Holloway in 2016 with the Alice Dougherty Chaplin Prize for Performance before going on to work at Bishopsgate School and St George’s School, Windsor Castle until 2019. With the unexpected aid of the Covid lockdown, he completed a livestreamed 24-hour piano recital in a bid to financially support a Performance Masters degree at the Royal College of Music, which he completed in 2021 with Distinction.

He currently works as a sought-after freelancer, accompanying professionally across London.
