‘Saving Sandycombe – the inside story of the conservation of J.M.W. Turner’s House in Twickenham‘
On Thursday 30 June, at 7.00pm in St Nicholas Church, Church Street, Chiswick W42PJ, Catherine Parry-Wingfield (formerly Chairman of the Turner’s House Trust) will give a talk on “Saving Sandycombe – the inside story of the conservation of J.M.W. Turner’s House in Twickenham”. Entrance £7.00; concessions £5.00; free to Friends of St Nicholas Church; refreshments available.
Catherine was the energetic leader of the project for the restoration of Turner’s House Sandycombe Lodge, Twickenham. The results of the restoration are superb: another little gem close by the River Thames at Richmond has been recovered and newly presented to us in its full glory.
The story of its rescue and restoration is as fascinating as the house itself and its garden.
