Afternoon Concert Sunday 17th November, 3pm

St Nicholas Church, Church Street, Chiswick, W4 2PJ, Sunday 17th November 2024 – 3pm

A concert with Robert Folkes – Tenor, Oliva Singleton – Soprano & Daniel Silcock – Piano. A mixture of classical, romantic and jazz songs with some duets and a little piano as well.

All profits go to provide scholarships to support young choristers to sing at St Nicholas Church.

Robert Folkes

Robert Folkes is a British Tenor recently graduated from The Royal Academy of Music with a masters in singing and second study jazz trumpet, where his main teachers were Richard Berkeley-Steele, Anna Tilbrook and Nick Smart.

During his time on the masters he sang in choruses for Stravinsky’s The Rakes Progress and Handel’s Alcina, he then went on to sing in the Grange Park Opera Chorus for their 2024 productions of Rachmaninoff’s Aleko and Donizetti’s La fille du regiment. Whilst at the Academy he was also a regular soloist in the Bach in Leipzig Series and performed with Masaaki Suzuki, Rachel Podger, Eamonn Dougan and Peter Whelan. Robert won the Michael Head Song Prize in 2023 at Academy and performed scenes as Tamino and Nemorino from The Magic Flute and L’elisir d’amore as part of vocal faculty opera scenes.

Prior to Academy, Robert studied Music at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University and sang in the Sidney Sussex college choir.

Olivia Singleton

Olivia Singleton is a British Soprano. Recently graduated from Postgraduate studies at The Royal Academy of Music, Olivia also holds a Bachelor of Music degree with Honors from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  During her time at the Academy, Olivia studied closely with world renowned musicians such as Freddie De Tommaso, Joseph Middleton and Lucy Crowe. After successfully auditioning for the Preparatory Opera Pathway at The Royal Academy of Music, Olivia has performed the role of Harry in Britten’s opera, Albert Herring with RAO in March 2024 and in The Rakes Progress conducted by Trevor Pinnock in 2022. Having performed in operas across Europe, Olivia holds extensive stage experience.

Some engagements include the UK premier of Jake Heggie’s opera, Dead Man Walking alongside operas L’Elisir D’Amore and Le Nozze di Figaro with the New Generation Festival in Florence, Italy. In November 2022, Olivia starred in Stravinsky’s Opera, The Rake’s Progress, directed by Freddie Wake-Walker and conducted by Trevor Pinnock.

Daniel Peter Silcock

Daniel Peter Silcock is a Scottish pianist currently based in London, particularly distinguished as a song accompanist. Recent seasons have seen Daniel perform
at the world’s top music centres, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, and at Wigmore Hall in London. He is a Samling Artist, and a young artist with Carnegie Hall’s SongStudio 2024, curated by Reneé Fleming. Daniel was also an Art of Song fellow at Toronto Summer Music. He was the Schubert Insitute UK prize winner as a Leeds Lieder Young Artist in 2023. Other recent accompanist prizes include at the inaugural Eastbourne Singing Competition, the International Lied Competition in Görlitz, Germany, and at the Lewis Memorial Prize Competition, hosted by the Musica Britannica Trust.  Daniel’s recent projects have included recording Mahler Rückert-Lieder with Catherine Wyn-Rogers, recitals with British Youth Opera, and arranging Elgar’s Sea Pictures for piano chamber ensemble. He is continuing on the Song Circle and Academy Voices fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music.
