4th September 2018

Dear Friends

Welcome back, it’s been a wonderfully warm and relaxing month here in Chiswick. The month of August provides a welcome opportunity to catch up on planning for the year ahead and to think of future plans.

Here are a few dates for your diary:-

There will be a service of Choral evensong on Sunday 23rd September at 6pm. Please tell your friends and get the message out on social media if you can.

On Friday 28th September we will be holding our annual MacMillian Coffee Morning in church. There will be a short service of remembrance at 9.30am and then the coffee morning opens at 10am. Bring yourself, your friends and even your dog. It’s a great opportunity to meet others, have a coffee and a wonderful piece of cake, whilst supporting a great charity.

Please remember our piano recital and supper on Friday 28th September, more news about this event in this E-Bulletin.

We are celebrating our Harvest festival on Sunday 7 October at 10.30am. It is an All-Age service and members of Children’s Church will be playing a leading part. This year we will be focusing on items for the Foodbank. Details of suitable items to donate can be found below.

At 3pm on Sunday 7 October we will be holding our annual Pet Blessing Service. We all love our pets and they give us so much love and devotion in return, occasionally driving us mad with their antics and personality – but that’s all part of their charm. So why not bring them and yourself along to say thank you to God, because where would we be without them…

Now as you all return from you holidays, I’m off on mine. I’m travelling to a small Greek island called Ithica, hoping for some sunshine, but having looked at the 15 day forecast preparing for some warm rain!

Love to you all.

Fr Simon

Dear Friends

I would like to join Fr Simon in welcoming back to Chiswick all those of you who have been able to take a break away over the summer. As the new academic year begins we remember in our prayers all those students and teachers returning to school or university, especially those who are starting at new places of learning, and we wish them well.

I would like to flag up a couple more dates for your diaries: Chiswick Book Festival starts next week and offers over 50 different events to suit a wide variety of interests. It’s a non-profit-making, community event which has raised over £67,000 for reading-related charities over the past nine years. Further details can be found on www.chiswickbookfestival.net and there are leaflets and booking forms available at the back of church.

Our next Community Lunch will take place on Wednesday 12th September from 12.30 in St Denys Hall. Everyone is welcome, but if you are planning to come please let Anne McBride or a member of clergy know so that we know how many to cater for.

Later this month we shall be having a Planned Giving campaign, the first for some seven years, when we shall be discussing the urgent need for us to increase our parish income. We shall be asking everyone to consider prayerfully the importance of the life and ministry of St Nick’s and how this is reflected in their own financial contributions.

With every blessing

Mother Eileen
